PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an array substrate for a liquid crystal display which manufactures an organic semiconductor layer without a shadow mask, and simultaneously prevents the organic semiconductor layer from being damaged by chemicals, and to provide a method of manufacturing the array substrate. SOLUTION: The array substrate for the liquid crystal display includes: a first protective layer which has a gate contact hole 243 for exposing a gate electrode 235 and is constituted by a photosensitive organic insulating substance; and a gate wiring 250 which is formed at an upper portion of the first protective layer and defines a pixel region by contacting with the gate electrode 235 through the gate contact hole 243 and by intersecting with a data wiring and is constituted by a second metal.
