PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency at keeping a switch closed with an electromagnetic actuator. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic actuator is provided with a yoke 1 for forming a magnetic path with, an armature 2 freely moving inside the yoke 1, a permanent magnet 3 for moving or keep closing the armature 2, and an operating rod 6 fixed to the armature 2, penetrating one of the side faces of the yoke 1 in free movement and coupled with the switch 9. The yoke 1 and the armature 2 forms an attracting face attracting with magnetic force of the permanent magnet, with a cross-section area smaller than that of the permanent magnet 3, and at the same time, not causing magnetic saturation against residual magnetic flux density.
