Disclosed is olanzapine pamoate salt including solvates thereof and its use for the manufacture of medicaments for treating psychosis, acute mania and mild anxiety states. Olanzapine pamoate salt and solvates thereof are suitable for the preparation of pharmaceutical formulations with a controllable release rate, wherein such formulations may be in a form of a depot formulation or a fast acting formulation for intramuscular or subcutaneous use.
