PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect a recording/reproducing device of a sequential access system to any types of computers without using any special software. SOLUTION: The recording/reproducing device is provided with a connection means 26 to a network, and processing means 23 and 24 for mounting a disk device on a server connected by the connection means 26 as a client in a file share system, converting data reproduced from a recording medium tp into a file and writing the converted file to the disk device upon reception, via the network, of first information for instructing capturing of data on the recording medium tp into the disk device, and writing data converted from the file read from the disk device to the data recording medium tp upon reception, via the network, of second information for instructing writing out of the file from the disk device to the recording medium tp.
