<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring device enabling a user to know the reliability of a past image easily. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle periphery monitoring device for displaying an image around a vehicle comprises: an imaging means 10 for capturing the image around the vehicle, storage means 116, 116' for storing the image captured by the imaging means, display image generation means 120, 120' for generating a composite image for display by using a new image captured by the imaging means and the past image captured before, and a display means 20 for displaying the composite image.
