PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet-like felt having cavities in the planar direction. SOLUTION: Wool fibers are mixed to prepare webs 11 and 13 (700×1,000 mm, 620 g/m<SP>2</SP>) with a carding machine (not shown). Twelve PP bands (packing strings) of a length corresponding to the width of the webs are arranged on the web 11 and the web 13 is then superimposed thereon. An adequate amount of water is sprinkled with a shower and the whole web is then arranged on a lower cloth of a hardener board. The web is then covered with an upper cloth and a felt from the upper side and the whole is inserted between an upper and a lower hot platens and fulled. After the fulling, the felt is naturally dried and the PP bands are taken out to thereby complete the felt 10 having the cavities 15. When supports such as wires are introduced into the cavities, the felt can be formed into a three-dimensional shape. Furthermore, even a bed mat containing Kiyoseki (a mineral emitting strong negative ions and far infrared light, produced in Gunma Prefecture) can be obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
