PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an optical module capable of precisely aligning an optical waveguide and an optical element and suppressing optical loss in optical coupling between the optical waveguide and the optical element.

SOLUTION: The optical module 1 includes the optical waveguide 10 and the optical element 11 on a support substrate 13. The optical element 11 is sealed with a sealing resin 12. A gap is formed between a surface of the sealing resin 12 on a light reception surface or a light emission surface of the optical element 11 and a light emission surface or an incident surface in the optical waveguide 10.
