<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveform shaping apparatus and a waveform shaping method of preventing a signal deformation of a signal with a halftone like a step wave in the case of improving a waveform response of a video signal unsharpened by attenuation of a high frequency component or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The waveform shaping apparatus in a digital processing system for processing the video signal includes: means (11 to 15) for detecting data within a predetermined range before and after present data, obtain a difference between an average of the detected data before and after the present data and the present data, amplify the difference and summate the amplified difference to the present data as an enhancement component; and means (16 to 18) that detect a plurality of data within a predetermined range before and after the present data, sequentially detect a gradient from the vicinity of the present data relative to the present data, and place a limit on the summated data in a way of not applying emphasis processing in a direction of increasing the gradient. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
