PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a cover is possibly torn by a strain applied to the book side as a book is opened and closed, when the material of a book jacket is changed to one having high rigidity, while the shape of the jacket is left to be a usual one, taking it into consideration that the book jacket formed of conventional pliable material often fails to produce a sufficient effect of protecting the book from external forces. SOLUTION: A pliable fitting body for holding is constituted inside an exterior body to be a binding of the book jacket, so as to form a double structure wherein the cover and the shelfback of the book are fixed by the fitting body. Thereby the book and the book jacket can be opened and closed independently respectively and therefore the strain applied to the cover of the book by the opening and closing of the book jacket having the high rigidity is eliminated.
