PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refining method capable of easily obtaining organopolysiloxane in high yield with little content of low molecular siloxane especially cyclosiloxane of≤20 multimerization, and to provide organopolysiloxane refined by the refining method. SOLUTION: The refining method for removing low molecular siloxane contained in the organopolysilaxane comprises applying the organopolysiloxane represented by general formula (1): R<SP>1</SP><SB>a</SB>SiO<SB>(4-a)/2</SB>(1) [wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is H, OH or a 1-20C (substituted) univalent hydrocarbon group; and (a) is an optional value of 1.0-2.5] to liquid chromatography to remove low molecular siloxanes contained in the organopolysiloxane, wherein the liquid chromatography uses a silica gel modified with hydrocarbon group as the column packing material and a mixed solvent of a nonpolar solvent and a polar solvent as the eluent.
