PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a transparent barrier polypropylene film, using polypropylene film as a plastic substrate, excellent in transparency, gas barrier property to oxygen, water vapor, etc., and preventing peeling off of a vapor deposited film as a barrier film, preventing generation of thermal cracking, excellent in filling and packaging suitability to foods and drinks, medicines, etc. SOLUTION: The method for producing the transparent barrier polypropylene film comprises forming of a first thin film which improves adhesion of a second thin film, as described later, to the first thin film and constitutes a plasma resistant protective film for preventing yellowing and deterioration of the biaxially drawn polypropylene film caused by a plasma treatment for forming the second thin film, composed of a vapor deposited film of an inorganic oxide by physical vapor deposition onto one side face of a biaxially drawn polypropylene film base material, and forming of the second thin film composed of a vapor deposited film of an inorganic oxide by chemical vapor deposition.
