Product for dyeing and/or lightening keratin fibers comprises 0.001-15 wt.% of an oxalic, ethanediimidic, hydroxyiminoacetic or alkoxyiminoacetic acid ester, an oxalic, ethanediimidic, hydroxyiminoacetic, alkoxyiminoacetic acid or aminoiminoacetic acid amide or a alkoxyiminoacetic acid. An independent claim is also included for dyeing and/or lightening keratin fibers by optionally applying a pretreatment product P1, applying a product P2 optionally after adding a product P3, rinsing off P2 after 5-30 minutes, optionally applying a posttreatment product P4 and rinsing off P4 after a few minutes, where at least one of P1-P3 is a product as above.
