A method of determining whether there are air bubbles in piping of a dispensing device, and the dispensing device (1). In the dispensing device (1), liquid (11) is placed in the piping (2) to which a dispensing nozzle (3) is connected, the liquid is moved in the piping to suck a liquid sample, which contains an inspecting object or reagent, from the dispensing nozzle, and the device discharges and dispenses the sucked liquid sample. The method has a step of discharging the liquid (11) inside the piping (2) from the dispensing nozzle (3) and detecting a change in the pressure in the piping, a step of calculating the number of crests of a pressure change waveform based on the detected pressure change, and a step of determining whether there are air bubbles in the piping based on the number of the crests calculated. |
