PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine/an external combustion engine capable of efficiently converting rotary force of a crankshaft by reducing explosion energy loss. SOLUTION: The crankshaft is moved up and down by drive of rotation of a gear cam 11 installed on a crank journal 8. Consequently, position of bottom dead center of a piston can be kept in an angle (∠C=180°-90°) in which a connecting rod 9 and the crankshaft can generate effective crank rotary force, and explosion energy of fuel can be very efficiently converted to rotary force.
