PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of a seam by simple control when a coating roll and a cylindrical support are separated, and to efficiently form a coating film of a uniform thickness on the cylindrical support. SOLUTION: A coating roll 2 coated with a coating liquid for forming a photosensitive layer of an electrophotographic photoreceptor and a cylindrical support 5 for the electrophotographic photoreceptor disposed near the coating roll 2 are separately turned to transfer a coating film formed on the coating roll 2 onto the cylindrical support 5, and then the coating roll 2 and the cylindrical support 5 are relatively separated. At this time, control is performed so that the circumferential velocity V1 of one of the coating roll 2 and the cylindrical support 5 in separation is made higher than the circumferential velocity V2 of the other in separation, and control is also performed so that the separation velocity V3 at which the coating roll 2 and the cylindrical support 5 are relatively separated is made lower than the circumferential velocity V2 in separation.
