<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive unit which can control low-speed rotation, and to provide a drive method. <P>SOLUTION: The motor drive unit comprises: a position detector (3) which detects a rotor position of a motor, and generates a position detection signal; a phase shift (12) which outputs a phase signal with a phase of the position detection signal shifted at only a prescribed angle; a switch (6) which generates a desired motor drive voltage from a power supply voltage by on/off-operations of a plurality of switching elements; a torque command (10) which outputs a torque command signal from an original torque signal imparted from the outside; and a PWM drive signal generator (50) which generates a PWM-controlled drive signal for driving each switching element from the phase signal and the torque command signal. By intentionally reducing motor efficiency by using the phase-shifted position detection signal, and by suppressing the generation of torque, the stable control of low-speed rotation can be achieved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
