<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine increasing exhaust back pressure, regardless of operational conditions of the internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: The control device is applied for an internal combustion engine 1 provided with a turbocharger 6 which can be driven by an electric motor 6c. When a predetermined exhaust back pressure increase condition is satisfied, for example, when warming-up of the internal combustion engine 1 is required, an ECU 30 controls operation of the electric motor 6c to perform regeneration by the electric motor 6c, to maintain a turbine rotor in a stopped state, or to rotate the turbine rotor in a direction opposite to the rotational direction in supercharging, so as to reduce an exhaust flow rate of an exhaust passage 4 downstream of a turbine 6b of the turbocharger 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
