<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve usability by facilitating a jamming treatment at a fixing ejection part. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has: a FU (Face Up) tray 21 guiding a sheet having passed through a fixing nip N to a FD (Face Down) ejection part at a closing position and guiding the sheet to a FU ejection part at an opening position; and a rear cover 22 openable/closable to an apparatus body, arranged to be doubly superposed on the inside of an apparatus body relative to the FU tray 21 and forming a part of a sheet conveying path from the fixing nip N to the FD ejection part. A mechanism for releasing the fixing nip N is interlocked with the opening/closing of the rear cover 22, and the contact pressure of the fixing nip N is released as soon as the rear cover 22 is opened to make the sheet conveying path open. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
