摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a liquid crystal display device of a vertical alignment (VA) type such that liquid crystal molecules are perpendicular to an alignment plate in a voltage-off state, for the liquid crystal display device being characterized in that the viewing angle is improved. <P>SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method for the polarizing plate to be provided for a vertical alignment liquid crystal cell having polarizing plate protective films on both surfaces of a polarizer, before the polarizing plate is provided on the liquid crystal cell, a polarizing plate protective film of 90 to 175 nm in retardation value (Rt value) defined by an expression (1) of Rt value=((nx+ny)/2-nz)&times;d is stuck at least onto one surface of the polarizer. Here, nx is a refractive index of the film in a direction parallel to the film forming direction of the film, ny a refractive index of the film in a direction perpendicular to the film forming direction, nz a refractive index of the film in a thickness direction, and (d) the thickness (nm) of the film. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
