<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor element excelling in durability, since the deterioration in the intensity of the parent body due to its use is prevented and also excelling in responsiveness. <P>SOLUTION: This gas sensor element 2 is equipped with a bottomed and cylindrical parent body 28, made of a solid electrolyte having zirconia as a major component, an outside electrode 26 provided on an outer surface of the parent body 28, an inside electrode 27 provided on the inner surface of the parent body 28, and an adhesion layer 29, provided between the parent body 28 and the outside electrode 26 and having zirconia as a major component. This sensor element 2 is characterized in that the ratio of tetragonal crystal to zirconia particles in the parent body 28 is not smaller than 45% and not larger than 60%, and that the ratio of tetragonal crystal to zirconia particles in the adhesion layer 29 is larger than the ratio of the tetragonal crystal to the zirconia particles in the parent body 28. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
