A hydrostatic transaxle (10) comprises: a motor casing (23); at least one hydraulic motor (24,25) disposed in the motor casing (23); at least one output shaft (105) disposed in the motor casing (23) so as to be driven by the at least one hydraulic motor (24,25); and a pair of steerable wheel support units (86) attached onto respective opposite ends of the motor casing (23). Each of the steerable wheel support units (86) includes an axle (5a), a steerable casing (103), a wheel (5), and a steering arm (157). In each of the steerable wheel support units (86), the axle (5a) is drivingly connected to the at least one output shaft (105), the steerable casing (103) is substantially horizontally rotatable relative to the motor casing (23), the wheel (5) is attached on an outer end of the axle outside of the steerable casing (103), and the steering arm (157) is rotatably integrally provided on the steerable casing (103). The hydrostatic transaxle (10) further comprises a pair of connection rods (158) for connecting the steering arms (157) of the steerable wheel support units (86) to a common rotary member (155) of a steering operation mechanism (150) spaced forward or rearward from the hydrostatic transaxle (10).
