First and second vehicle units such as strollers (1) are connected together. A brake element (11) is associated with a wheel (6) of the first vehicle unit which is removed to connect the said first vehicle unit to the second vehicle unit. The brake element (11) is aligned with a wheel of the said second vehicle unit so that when the brake of first vehicle unit is engaged the said brake element (11) engages with the wheel (7) of the said second vehicle. Applying the brake of the first vehicle also engages the brake associated with the wheel of the said first vehicle which is not removed (7) in joining the first and second vehicles and therefore applying the brake of the first vehicle engages brakes on two spaced apart wheels. When the brake of the second vehicle (none of the wheels of the second vehicle are removed to join the said first and second vehicles) is applied, brake elements (15, 11) engage with wheels on both sides of the vehicle.
