<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation method of sound for grasping and evaluating sound inexpensively and quantitatively with the use of a concept of a representative frequency that is a parameter correlated with the height of sound that a human can feel as a basis. <P>SOLUTION: The evaluation method of sound includes a sound sampling step S1 for sampling sound; a frequency analysis step S2 for acquiring a sound pressure level for each frequency band in 1/n octave bands of the sampled sound; a calculation step S3 for calculating a representative frequency fa obtained by the following expression (1) by using m upper-level frequency bands, where the sound level is large; and an evaluation step S4 for evaluating the sound by using the representative frequency fa. The expression (1) is fa =Σ(Pni×fni)/Σ(Pni) (i=1-m); where Pni indicates the i-th largest sound level (dB) from the upper level and fni indicates the center frequency (Hz) in a frequency band for indicating the sound pressure level. By using the representative frequency that is correlated with the auditory sense of a human related to the pitch of sound, the pitch of sound can be grasped quantitatively or evaluated. This method can be executed with a simple configuration using a universal measuring machine, thus evaluating sound inexpensively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
