A flat display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to remarkably improve the strength of a panel by directly applying a light transmission adjusting layer on a front surface of the panel. A flat display device includes a flat display panel(100) and a light transmission adjusting layer(200) formed on a front surface of the panel and made of organic material containing any one of a near-infrared blocking agent, a near-ultraviolet blocking agent, a neon light blocking agent, and a color compensating pigment. The organic material comprises any one of an acrylic binder, an epoxy binder, and a carbonate-based binder. The light transmission adjusting layer is directly coated on the front surface of the panel to have a thickness of 100 to 10mm.
