The invention relates to a device comprising means for taking a height measurement (H) and a plurality of circumferential measurements (b, c, g) from the limb of a patient at different pre-determined levels (zb, zc, zg). A first data file contains the co-ordinates (X0, Y 0, Z0) of a first grid of points (50) representing morphological characteristics of a reference limb, said points being distributed over the surface of the limb along a succession of contours (26) defined at different successive levels (Z). Means for generating morphology recalculate the co-ordinates of the first grid of points according to the height measurement (H) and circumferential measurements (b, c, g) in such a way as to produce a second data file containing the co-ordinates (x, y, z) of a second grid of points (52) representing the morphological characteristics of the limb of the patient.
