PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus of a tandem type or the like in which even when amorphous silicon drums are used, no letter void generation phenomenon occurs and faulty charge is avoided. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus of a tandem type or the like, a toner containing a higher fatty acid metal salt and a titanium oxide is housed in an image forming unit disposed on the most downstream side with respect to a moving direction of a transfer medium, and the relationships of X1>Xn, X1≥Xm≥Xn, Y1>Yn and Y1≥Ym≥Yn are satisfied, wherein X1 and Y1 represent the higher fatty acid metal salt concentration and titanium oxide concentration of the toner, respectively; Xn and Yn represent the higher fatty acid metal salt concentration and titanium oxide concentration of a toner, respectively, housed in an image forming unit disposed on the most upstream side with respect to the moving direction of the transfer medium; and Xm and Ym represent the higher fatty acid metal salt concentration and titanium oxide concentration of a toner, respectively, housed in an image forming unit disposed between the image forming unit on the most downstream side and the image forming unit on the most upstream side.
