<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a compact-sized optical integrated element which inputs CW light, has a low power consumption and little noise, and generates an optical pulse string which is small in pulse width. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical integrated element, fundamentally, a light source comprising a wavelength-changeable laser 1 and a wavelength-fixable laser 2, a semiconductor optical amplifier 5 which performs four light wave mixing to light from two semiconductor lasers 1 and 2 by using a nonlinear effect to generate a frequency comb, and a semiconductor optical detector 6 to which the light from the two semiconductor lasers 1 and 2 is input are integrated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
