PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance efficiency of assembling work of an internal combustion engine by facilitating assembly of starting torque transmitting mechanism for normally intermeshed internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: Since a pinion gear 110 of a starter motor assembly 102 is brought to escaping condition by a hook pin 111 in advance, it is attached to the internal combustion engine without requiring to match intermeshing phase position of the pinion gear 110 and a ring gear. Then, the hook pin 111 is pulled out and the pinion gear 110 is intermeshed with the ring gear by energizing force of a compression spring 112. Even though the pinion gear 110 does not intermesh with the ring gear at this time, the phase position matches when internal combustion engine is initially started and they automatically intermesh with each other by the bias force of the compression spring 112. Thus, it is unnecessary to work phase matching for intermeshing the pinion gear 110 with the ring gear in spite of being the assembly of starting torque transmitting mechanism for the normally intermeshed internal combustion engine.
