The method involves executing a set of operations on network nodes. An execution plan, which coordinates the execution of the operations, is provided with the help of rules that are stored in a data base, where the rules incorporate specific characteristics of a distributed network system. The set of operations is processed and implemented under consideration of the execution plan, where the rules consider the dependence of the operations on each other. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a distributed network system comprising a set of network nodes (2) a computer program product with a program code for operating a distributed network system.
