PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lift capable of varying lifting speed in accordance with the existence of a seated person. SOLUTION: A head end part of a lifting arm 15 on which a seat is provided is elevated by moving a lifting driving carriage 14 by transmitting torque of a driving motor 32 to a driving screw 22 of a lifting mechanism 21 through a gear mechanism 31 and revolving the driving screw 22. The gear mechanism 31 in constituted of a gear ratio automatic changing type speed reducer 41 to increase a speed reduction ratio when a load in the lift mechanism 21 is large and to reduce the speed reduction ratio when the load in the lift mechanism 21 is small.
