An apparatus for controlling output of a bell sound in a mobile communication terminal and a method thereof are provided to offer a characteristic or interesting bell sound according to the number of call connections from a call sender. An apparatus for controlling output of a bell sound in a mobile communication terminal comprises a bell sound memory(10), a bell sound setter(20), a CID(Caller ID) extractor(50), a call receipt counter(70) and a controller(80). The bell sound memory(10) stores plural bell sound packages each of which includes a group of music. The bell sound setter(20) sets a bell sound package for each registered phone number to be outputted as a call arrival notifying sound. The CID extractor(50) extracts a phone number of a call sender in case that a call is received. The call receipt counter(70) counts the number of received calls for each registered phone number and stores the counted number on the basis of a set time when a call is received. The controller(80) checks the bell sound package preset through the bell sound setter(20) in case that the extracted phone number is registered one, checks the counted number of the received calls of the registered phone number, reads out a specific bell sound from the bell sound package according to the counted number of the received calls and outputs the specific bell sound as a call arrival notifying sound. |
