[Also in Divisions B4, B5 and B6] Cakes of kneadable material formed in a reciprocable mould 4 (see Division B5) are expelled from the mould by a die 5 at a position above a box 26 on a slide 25, a length of sheet material 8a being interposed between the mould and the box 26, by means of reciprocable grippers 14, and subsequently wrapped round the cable. The mould 4 receives the cake material from a hopper 2, Fig. 2 (not shown), the mould base 7 being adjustable to vary the cake size. As the grippers 14 move forward, a tappet roller 19 causes the pivoted top member of the grippers to close and engage the material 8a, e.g. paper, which is then drawn out as the grippers return. A brake 9 is operated to hold the roll 8 causing the material 8a to tear along a perforated line. To avoid damage to the cake as the die descends, a blade 27 forming the front wall of the box 26, is pivoted through 90 degrees. A folding member 29 on the slide 25 is advanced to fold one top flap of the wrapping material, the slide 25 then moving so that a roller 28 folds the other top flap, and members 30 fold the side flaps. In a modification, Figs. 2a and 3a (not shown), the base of the mould 4 is grooved to receive the side walls thereby preventing the cake material from escaping laterally.
