The image forming apparatus is characterized in that the photosensitive layer in the electrophotographic photoreceptor contains phthalocyanine produced through an acid pasting step, the toner for electrostatic image development contains toner mother particles formed in an aqueous medium, the toner volume median diameter (Dv50) is not less than 4.0 µm and not more than 7.0 µm, and the relationship between the volume median diameter (Dv50) and the percentage number (Dns) of toners having a particle diameter of not less than 2.00 µm and not more than 3.56 µm satisfies formula (1).
