In an inhaler using a pressurized aerosol dispensing container, the container 1 is mounted in a tubular housing 3 and movable relative to the housing by means of a manually operable button 6 to operate the dispensing valve and provide a passage for air through the mouthpiece 4. The housing 3 is provided with a circumferential projection 11 which seals against the container wall to prevent air entering the mouthpiece 4 via air holes 15 until the container valve stem 2 is depressed. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), grooves (13) in the button (6) provide access for air when the button is operated to actuate the dispensing valve.
