<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical circuit module in which a PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) and a semiconductor optical waveguide are joined together with a low loss. <P>SOLUTION: The optical circuit module 1 is configured with the PLC 2 and the semiconductor optical waveguide 3 both of which are joined together by a butt-joint. The PLC 2 has such structure that a clad 5 is mounted on a substrate 4, wherein a core 6 is formed inside the clad 5. Likewise, the semiconductor optical waveguide 3 is mounted on a Si submount 7, wherein a waveguide 8 is formed inside the optical waveguide 3. The optical circuit module is fabricated by individually manufacturing each of the PLC 2 and semiconductor optical waveguide 3, and is fabricated by joining them by a predetermined method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
