A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to enhance light emitting efficiency by applying an auxiliary pulse to address electrodes during a sustain period of a subfield having a large weighted value. First and second sustain discharge pulses(Vs) are applied on first and second electrodes(Y,X) during a sustain period of a first subfield having a minimum weighted value. A first voltage is applied on a third electrode(A) during an intermediate interval between the first and second sustain discharge pulses. Third and fourth sustain discharge pulses are respectively applied on the first and second electrodes during a sustain period of a second subfield having a higher weighted value than the minimum weighted value. A second voltage(Va1) higher than the first voltage is applied on the third electrode during an intermediate interval between the third and fourth sustain discharge pulses.
