The present invention provides a spindle motor 100 , which comprises a bearing 115 for rotatably supporting a rotating shaft 151 , a bearing holder 113 for securely holding the bearing 115 therein, a base 111 for securely supporting the bearing holder 113 thereon, a thrust washer 119 aligned at the upper end thereof with the upper end of the base 111 in the same horizontal plane and supporting the rotating shaft 151 in a thrusting direction, a thrust washer cover 121 for receiving the thrust washer 119 therein so as to cover the thrust washer 119 , and a bearing holder support 123 securely installed between the thrust washer cover 121 and the base 111 and supporting the bearing holder 113 . The bearing holder support 123 is secured to the bearing holder 113 and covers both the lower end of the bearing 115 and part of the lower end of the bearing holder 113 . Further, the bearing holder support 123 is provided both with a protrusion 124 inserted into a depression 114 formed on the lower end of the bearing holder 113 and an edge caulked to the base 111.
