<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high quality glass substrate for a magnetic disk which is free from defects such as crack or flaw. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the glass substrate for the magnetic disk in which the glass substrate 10 is manufactured by forming cutting lines 2, 3 drawing a curved line forming a periphery of a region where the glass substrate for the magnetic disk is formed on one surface of a plate-like glass base material 1 and propagating the cutting lines in the thickness direction of the glass base material to cut the glass base material into the disk-like glass plate, the cutting by forming the circular cutting line on the glass base material is carried out under a condition satisfying a prescribed relation, for example PV≤5×r, between the radius (r[mm]) of the circle and the maximum height (PV[mm])of surface waving which the glass base material has. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
