PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a liquid crystal display element, which has pluralities of slits 6 and 7 formed in a pair of transparent electrodes at intervals along the length so that the slits 6 of the one transparent electrode and the slits 7 of the other transparent electrode are arranged alternately along the width, from decreasing in display quality by making it difficult to view a display defect generated by a disclination line connecting edges of slits adjacent along the width direction. SOLUTION: The slits 6 and 7 of the transparent electrodes are formed such that the relative position relation in the slit length direction between respective gap parts 6a which exist between the slits 6 belonging to each slit array 6L of the one transparent electrode and respective gap parts 7a which exist between the slits 7 belonging to each slit array 7L of the other transparent electrode adjacent to the slit array in the slit width direction is irregular.
