PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio recorder which can effectively use recording capacity of a recording/reproducing apparatus by recoding an audio file without image data in the recoding/reproducing apparatus, and to provide an audio recording method thereof. SOLUTION: In the audio recorder for recording an audio file in a recording/reproducing apparatus, when the selected audio file has an image data and the audio file cannot be recorded in the recording/reproducing apparatus, the size of the image data of the selected audio file is compared with the free space capacity of the recording/reproducing apparatus. When a sum of the image data and the free space capacity is larger than the size of the selected audio file excluding the image data, the image data is removed from the selected audio file to newly prepare a selected audio file, and it is recorded in the recoding/reproducing apparatus.
