The machine has a transfer unit (12) provided for transmission of a transfer layer from a carrier foil to a print substrate (5) e.g. paper. The transfer unit has a foil transfer cylinder and an impression cylinder, where the print substrate is transported through a transfer gap (19) along a transport path. A coating head (2) is provided for application of an adhesive on the print substrate, where the transfer unit is a subsequent processing unit of the machine. The transfer unit has a subsequent processing device that works on the print substrate. An independent claim is also included for a method for transmission of a transfer layer from a carrier foil to a print substrate.
