A water hammer arrestor is provided to effectively absorb the impact pressure by increasing the moving velocity of the fluid having the pressure lowering of a connection unit of a body unit. A water hammer arrestor comprises a body unit(100), a drain combining unit(400), and a pressure reducing unit(300). The body unit comprises a housing(110) having the pressure gas and a piston(200) for absorbing the water hammer and a connection unit(120) having the smaller diameter than the housing. One side of the drain combining unit is combined with a connection unit of the body unit and the other side of the drain combining unit is combined with a drain pipe. The pressure reducing unit is included in a hole of a predetermined type whose diameter is smaller than the inner diameter of the drain combining unit. The one side of the pressure reducing unit is separated from the piston in a predetermined interval and the other side of the pressure reducing unit is combined with the drain combining unit. The diameter of the hole of the pressure reducing unit is 3~7mm, the length of the pressure reducing unit is 10~50mm. The force applied to the piston is improved by increasing the moving velocity of a fluid to lower the pressure of the pressure reducing unit from the other side to one side.
