A collision energy absorbing structure of a steering column is provided to preclude the column from being lowered, and to protect a driver safely by fixing a deflection prevention fixing member with an upper bracket assembly and supporting three points of the column. A collision energy absorbing structure of a steering column comprises a guide plate(410), a deflection prevention fixing member(570), a steering plate(420), and two sliding members and a sliding fixing part(460). The guide plate is formed with a long hole to the same direction as a steering shaft. The deflection prevention fixing member slides on left and right upper surfaces of the long hole and is fixed with an upper bracket assembly(470). The steering plate is mounted between the front end of the long hole and the deflection prevention fixing member. A lower bracket assembly has the sliding members and the sliding fixing part. Three points of the column are supported when the collision occurs to prevent the steering column from being deflected. The steering plate is half-sheared to the same direction as the steering shaft.
