A vertical liquid crystal aligning agent and a vertical liquid crystal display device using the aligning agent are provided to improve wettability of LC(Liquid Crystal) and electrical properties of LC alignment layers and to reduce the ununiformity of LC alignment due to ODF method. A vertical liquid crystal aligning agent comprises a polymer which comprises an amic acid repeating unit represented by the formula 1a and/or an imide repeating unit represented by the formula 1b, wherein P1 is a tetravalent organic group, Q1 is a divalent organic group, and at least one of P1 and Q1 contains a fluorine atom; and P2 is a tetravalent organic group, Q2 is a divalent organic group, and at least one of P2 and Q2 contains a fluorine atom.
