The module (1) has a proton exchange membrane type fuel cell (12) supplied with oxygen and hydrogen rich gases and generating electrical energy. A reforming reactor (6) supplies hydrocarbon fuel, water vapor or oxygen rich gas, and produces a reformate. A hydrogen separating membrane (6`) is coupled to the reactor and produces the gas that is more rich in hydrogen than the reformate and flue gas. Catalytic burners (24, 27) are provided in thermal contact with the reactor and a steam generator, respectively. The burner (27) is supplied with the gas from the burner (24), reformate and the fuel. An independent claim is also included for a method for implementing a power module.
