PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work centering method and a device therefor, which sets a workpiece quickly and accurately centers it in a magnetic chuck mounted on a spindle. SOLUTION: The work centering device makes centering of the workpiece 9 by abutting thereto working parts 13 provided in two places, the workpiece being sucked fast to the magnetic chuck mounted on the spindle to be driven into rotation. The working parts 13 are supported by a supporting plate 11 rotatable round one fulcrum O, and when the fulcrum O of the supporting plate 11 moves toward the rotational center OG of the magnetic chuck, the parts 13 abut on the workpiece 9 and correct the dislocation of the workpiece 9 while they swing in compliance with the workpiece 9 positioned eccentrically, and the center OW of the workpiece 9 is put in alignment with the rotational center OG of the magnetic chuck.
