PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus that can have superior cleaning performance and maintain durability for a long period even when toner of fine particle size in a nearly spherical shape is used. SOLUTION: The image forming method includes a charging stage for at least a photoreceptor, an image exposing stage, a developing stage, a transfer stage, a fixing stage, and a cleaning stage for the surface of the photoreceptor. In the cleaning stage, cleaning is carried out while a cleaning blade 20 is brought into contact with the photoreceptor surface, and the cleaning blade 20 has such a structure that a plurality of elastic layers 21 and 22 containing inorganic particles differing in shape or/and material respectively are laminated.
