The proposed optical-fiber cable with a metallic band sheath contains a core consisting of fiber-optic lightguides, an internal cover designed as polymeric film wound on the core with overlapping and fixed by polymeric threads, a polymeric intermediate cover, a metallic band sheath, and an outside protecting cover. The air gaps between the fiber-optic lightguides are filled with water-resistant material. The cable is distinctive by its enhanced bending strength. The polymeric internal cover protects the cable core against damage caused by mechanical or thermal action when producing the cable. The cable can be laid underground and in an environment with rodents.
