A wireless communication apparatus capable of effectively controlling retransmission. In this wireless communication apparatus (100), a frame aggregation part (111) aggregates basic unit data units (e.g., MPDUs) and adds a header thereto to form an aggregation frame. In response to a retransmission request from a receiving station (wireless communication apparatus (200)) as to the aggregation frame, a frame dividing part (112) divides the data part of the aggregation frame into divisional data blocks to form divisional frames. A frame control part (170) classifies the divisional frames into some groups in accordance with the reception qualities, at the receiving station, of the divisional data blocks of the aggregation frame. A transmission control part (185) transmits only the divisional frames of a group the reception quality of which is below a predetermined level. In this way, the transmission efficiency can be improved as compared with the retransmission of the aggregation frame, whereby the system throughput can be improved and hence an effective retransmission control can be achieved.
