<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method applicable to a roll-to-roll pattern forming method on a flexible web-type substrate, considering the increase in difficulty of forming a high-definition pattern on a hard flat substrate because of an increase in a substrate size, and to further improve quality and efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: Consecutively after a step of forming a pattern on the surface of a web-type substrate by roll-to-roll techniques, the patterned surface just after the pattern formation is surface treated by bringing a roll-type object close to the surface. In particular, by the configuration and movement of a single-purpose polishing roll, a uniform and flat pattern surface can be obtained. Thus, an image of a high-definition pattern can be produced by roll-to-roll techniques on a long web substrate, and this can effectively respond to a larger size and low cost of a substrate for pattern formation to be used for, for example, various kinds of displays. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
